Accountability Plan
All SHCPS students will become proficient readers, writers and mathematicians.
- SHCPS will increase student performances in ELA and math on the MCAS so that SHCPS continues to make its AYP as measured by State Performance Ratings and NCLB.
- SHCPS should strive to be at or above State Targets by 2006.
SHCPS will demonstrate strong organizational viability by maintaining strong parent and community support and commitment to the school.
- During the school year, SHCPS will maintain an enrollment level equal to or exceeding 90% capacity as defined by our yearly enrollment targets as set by the Board of Trustees and a waitlist equal to or exceeding 15 % of the school’s population.
- The average daily rate of student attendance will meet or exceed the monthly AYP goal.
- SHCPS will disseminate best practices by presenting at professional conferences, hosting guests to our school for observations and discussion groups and seeking opportunities to partner with local schools, universities and businesses.
- SHCPS parents will give the school an overall satisfaction rating of 8.0 or better on of the Harris Interactive Survey.
- At least 75% of all parents will attend at least one school function each year as measured by sign in sheets at assemblies, workshops, etc.
- At least 50% of all parents will attend at least one QLC conference each year as measured by sign in sheets and computerized goal setting.
- At least 10% of all parents will volunteer with the school in some capacity this year as measured by the volunteer register maintained in the front office.
- The Parent Advisory Council and Parent Guild will hold monthly meetings with attendance of at least 5 parents present at each meeting.
- SHCPS will document good faith efforts to build partnerships with at least one area school, community group, business or university.
SHCPS will demonstrate strong organizational viability by maintaining fiscal responsibility.
- Yearly submission of audited financial statements will demonstrate that the school is responsible with public funds.
- The Board of Trustees will hold Edison accountable for the delivery of services through and ongoing fiscal review and contractual penalties for performance.
- The Board of Trustees will develop a strategic plan for school improvement and to address any changes that may occur within our relationship with Edison Schools.
Members of the SHCPS community will understand and demonstrate the school’s Core Values (Wisdom, Justice, Courage, Compassion, Hope, Respect, Responsibility, Integrity).
- The Core Values will be integrated into all content and special areas as evidenced in lesson plans and school-wide programs or events.
Members of the SHCPS community will use technology to assess learning and to communicate effectively with families, staff and students.
- At least 75% of SHCPS families will use home computers to access the Common as measured by the Harris Survey.
- SHCPS staff will maintain attendance, discipline and student performance information on the school data base.
- Staff members will post assignments, weekly newsletter and staff notes to the Common.
- Students in grades 2-8 will participate in technology based assessments in the content areas (i.e. Benchmarks, SRI).
SHCPS staff members will experience opportunities for ongoing professional development and advancement.
- SHCPS will offer professional development opportunities (workshops, study groups, graduate courses, technology based trainings, etc.) to assist staff members with licensing processes and achieving “highly qualified” status.
- At least 10% of SHCPS teachers will experience professional advancement by serving on the Leadership Team, or by acting as a Lead Teacher, Curriculum Coordinator, Professional Development Facilitator or Edison Trainer.
SHCPS will integrate the arts across all curriculum areas.
- Core subject teachers will utilize the arts and movement to explain or reinforce content matter as evidenced in lesson plans and curriculum maps.
SHCPS will strive to meet the needs of a diverse student body.
Teachers will use data analysis worksheets, student tracking devices, a planning pyramid or similar construct to design differentiated instruction. Implementation will be measured through classroom observation reports and the teacher evaluation process.
