Hello All, Within the next several days, we plan to release a newly designed school website. You will have access to all the same information and tools, but things will be rearranged a bit. Existing usernames and passwords will still work. We hope that this change will improve your user experience. If you have any questions, please send an e-mail to jcoyne@sevenhillscharter.org. Thank you.
This spring, SHCPS staff, families and community members all pitched in to clear the land across the street from the school on Eastern Avenue. Over the summer, the work will continue (Contact Christopher Young at cyoung3@worcester.edu to help out!) so, upon our return to school in August, we can proudly unveil our Community Garden! In the spirit of this event, all classes will partake in a series of garden related projects that span across all content areas. Please click to view our Summer Reading List for more information.
Great news! All Students in grades who are moving into grades 3-8 next year have access to Study Island over the summer. Study Island is a great & fun web-based program for practicing math, reading, social studies, and science skills. Students can access Study Island by logging into the school website (using the "Student Login" link on the home page) and clicking the Study Island icon on your top toolbar. Students, visit Study Island this summer and keep practicing your skills! Activities will be assigned to you throughout the summer. You will see these assignments when you login to Study Island. Try to earn a blue ribbon in every topic that is assigned. Students who answer the most questions and/or earn many blue ribbons over the summer will earn special recognition when the next school year starts in August. Do your best and have a great summer! If you have any questions, please e-mail jcoyne@sevenhillscharter.org. - Mr. Coyne
All Families: The 2011 Summer Program Resource Guide is now available online. Thank you to CommunityBuild for developing the guide.
Students in grades 3-8 will take the MATH MCAS exams on Tuesday, May 17th and Wednesday, May 18th. Top ten ways to do your best: 1. Get a good night’s sleep! 2. Eat a healthy breakfast! 3. Get to school on time! 4. Before starting the test, do a “Braindump” (From memory, write down everything you can think of that will help you during the test so you can refer to it as a reference tool throughout the test. i.e. vocabulary, chants, diagrams, fact tables, examples, problem solving steps / strategies, etc.). 5. Answer EVERY PART of EVERY QUESTION. 6. SHOW your work! 7. Use deductive reasoning when answering multiple choice questions. Read the question carefully and be sure to answer what is being asked. 8. Check to make sure your answer makes sense. 9. Rest and refresh yourself if you are fading. 10. Believe in yourself! You can do it!
