Principal/Superintendent Search

Seven Hills Charter Public School Board Announces New Leader At its regularly scheduled meeting on Monday evening, the Seven Hills Charter Public School Board voted unanimously to appoint Mr. Leo Flanagan as its new Superintendent/Executive Director. He will replace Ms. Krista Piazza, who is stepping away in July and has been the school’s superintendent for fifteen years. Mr. Flanagan comes to the school with more than twenty years of experience in urban education. He has served as a teacher and school administrator in New York City, Boston and Lawrence. Mr. Flanagan is a graduate of Colby College and Harvard University. He is currently the principal of the General John Nixon Elementary School in Sudbury. Mr. Flanagan was one of 45 applicants for the position, from which eight semifinalists were selected and interviewed by a committee of faculty, staff and board members. That committee, in turn, identified three finalists. Each of the finalists visited the school for a day, where they met with staff, students and parents. The school’s Board of Trustees conducted final interviews and deliberations, at an all day meeting last Saturday. At that end of that meeting, the board voted to offer the position to Mr. Flanagan and begin negotiating contract terms. Seven Hills is a Level 1, K-8, Charter Public School that opened in 1996 at its current location at 51 Gage St. in Worcester. The school serves approximately 670 students and has enjoyed a waiting list of more than 400 students during each of its 20 years in operation. The school was designated a Level 1 school and awarded its fifth five–year Charter by Massachusetts DESE in 2016. See also: Superintendent Announcement for Seven Hills Charter Public School Community
